  • To improve, develop and establish teaching and research programs in line with country’s industrialization needs.
  • To develop and promote quality and market driven academic and professional pursuits.
  • To expand, strengthen and expand collaboration and partnership with industry and other organization.
  • To establish a culture of hard work, good governance in leadership and management of the department.
  • To develop, promote and carry out programs for epidemic and disaster prevention as well as risk management.

The Undergraduate program provides a broad scientific and technical background in Mechanical engineering. Undergraduate specialization is provided in the choice of technical electives from the subject areas of applied mechanics, automatic controls, electro-mechanical systems, energy conversion, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, manufacturing systems and materials processing, mechanical design, cryogenics, thermodynamics, robotics and automation. During the first year, coursework emphasizes Mathematics, physics, chemistry, computing, materials, statics and graphics: much of this in common with the other engineering curricula. In the last three years, the emphasis is on the mechanics of solids and fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer manufacturing, design and controls; instrumentation, experimentation and system synthesis.

Applied Thermodynamics Lab
The primary objective of this course is to give the engineering student a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts associated with various power engineering concepts such as thermodynamic cycles, processes, energy systems used in mechanical engineering.

Strength of Materials Lab
Equipment’s required destructive testing of material like Universal Testing Machine, Hardness Testing Machine, Fatigue Testing Machine, Spring Testing Machine and Impact Testing Machine which are used for testing mechanical properties of materials like Tensile strength, Compression strength, Torsional strength, Hardness etc. are available in Strength of Materials Lab.

Engineering Materials & Metallurgy Lab
Understanding the changes in hardness of materials under different cooling mediums and to develop the knowledge of micro structure of various materials and to study Iron- Carbon diagram in details. Understand various stages of heat treatment, pre and post processing of the job and its importance are well detailed. The students are expected to comprehend various methodologies of heat treatment used both industrially and in research labs. Hands-on exposure and experience towards various characterization methods used in Industry,

Fluid Mechanics Lab
It is an introductory course where flow behavior, fluid forces and analysis tools are introduced. The goals of the experiments include determination of forces generated when fluid flow takes place over a solid object, applications of the control volume approach, demonstration of the momentum and energy equations, viscosity measurement and engineering correlations. Intricate flow phenomena such as separations and transition to turbulence are demonstrated. Experimental setups such as flow through a tube, flow over a flat plate, wind tunnel, smoke tunnel and viscometer are made available to the students. The lab experiments utilize U-tube manometer and digital manometer, a hot-wire anemometer system and data acquisition. The lab runs closely with the lectures in such a way that experiments support the text covered in the class room.

Manufacturing Processes Lab
Imparting students with practical knowledge of primary manufacturing and a knowledge of sheet metal, welding, machining, and casting operations and mechanics of each operation along with practical applications of a product.

Theory of Machines Lab
Analyze the stress and strain on mechanical components, and understand, identify and quantify failure modes for mechanical parts. Apply knowledge from basic courses such as mathematics, physics, mechanics, statics, (strength of) materials to evaluate, design and engineer real components/machine elements.

Computer aided Design and Manufacturing Lab
Inculcate the knowledge of basic geometries, geometric tools, shapes and procedures used for engineering drawings and different concepts of theory of projections, development, sectioning, isometric projections and development of surfaces. Explore excellent technical capabilities in the mechanical engineering discipline with the knowledge of computer aided design and manufacturing. Major thrust is on advanced manufacturing, emphasizing automated manufacturing and computer integrated manufacturing, with technical concentrations.

Industrial Automation and Robotics Lab
Understand the role of a mechanical engineer in field of robotics through lead through programming and to design and build the mechanical subsystem with appropriate actuators and sensors for computer control.

Automobile Engineering Lab
Hands on practices for equipment while setting the tools, work piece, and machines for desired operations. Also intends to impart basic know-how of various hand tools and their use in different sections of manufacturing.

Heat Transfer Lab
Develop analytical abilities in students to solve problems related to conduction, convection and radiation and mathematical, physical bases of convection transport and to study the working of heat exchanger devices.

Fluid Machinery Lab
Many of our daily life activity depend on fluid machinery so it is important to understand the functioning principles and characteristics of such machinery from an engineering point of view. This lab focuses on giving the user an idea about practical behavior of such machines before performing operations on a real system.

RAC Lab
This is a core subject to study and understands the basic concepts to select proper refrigeration cycle and design air conditioning system. This lab provides a platform to the students for understanding the Pressure test, leak detection and charging. This practical students to install service and repair the Refrigeration and Air conditioning unit

Mechanical Vibrations Lab
This laboratory is mainly focused towards the experiments in the field of Vibration Analysis of Continuous Systems, Vibration Control by the use of various types of tuned mass damping, Provide familiarity to a wide range of sensors, Classical Control of Various first and second order systems.

Project Lab
This subject will develop skills to relate subject knowledge for some useful applications and to analyze and gathering the information, methods for future work as per requirement of the curriculum. Project work involves integration and implementation of knowledge and skills acquired during the degree program.
